Purley Food Hub

Charity & Community

Purley Food Hub is the independent local food bank set up by Purley & Kenley Churches Together to provide food to people in crisis.

A time of crisis can happen to anyone, often out of the blue and through no fault of their own.

Since we opened in January 2013 we have provided food for more than 15,000 people - at 3 meals a day for 3 days for each person, that’s over 135,000 meals. We will continue to be here for as long as we are needed.

The Food Hub is run by volunteers from the local churches and wider community. Clients are referred to us by ticket by 90 frontline agencies in the borough of Croydon including job centres, departments of Croydon Council, hostels and refuges, schools and children’s centres.

Clients receive longlife, non-perishable food for themselves and each member of their family.

The food is donated by schools and colleges, churches, businesses, Rotary Clubs, Women’s Institutes and uniformed organised, as well as many families and individuals.

We also have regular food collections at local supermarkets, such as Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury’s Local and the Co-op.

We produce a list each month of the priority food and other items we need. This available on our website with a list of places in Purley where food donations can be take; this is available at http://www.purleyfoodhub.net/index.php/donations.
