Netwalking - local business people benefit from time in nature
20-Jul-2016 11:45

Two local organisations have combined their expertise to help local business people benefit from spending more time in nature.

Laurence Grant and Rob O’Sullivan of Shaking Hands, winners of Young Start-Up Talent Croydon 2016, are working with Wild in the City to bring Netwalking to Croydon.  Shaking Hands is a platform supporting the development of small businesses and Wild in the City help reconnect people with the nature on their doorstep.

Netwalking combines traditional networking with walking and talking.  Business owners will set off on a light stroll by the River Wandle and get to know other local professionals in a relaxing environment, whilst enjoying the health benefits of being in nature.

Netwalking is part of a range of initiatives that Wild in the City offer to support businesses in promoting staff wellbeing and productivity through connection with nature.  We know from experience and research that spending time in nature inspires and energises us, reducing stress and anxiety. Even a 5 minute break in a green space can help us relax and give fresh perspective.

The event will be held on Thursday in Wandle Park, one of the borough’s oldest and most popular green spaces, starting at 8.30am. Business owners will be rejuvinated after an hour and a half of fresh air, making new contacts and learning more about one of Croydon’s many green spaces.

Shaking Hands co-Director, Laurence Grant says, “We hope that netwalking will become a regular fixture in our calendar of events helping small business owners inform, smarten and grow their businesses.”
