The Government Inspector

The Mayor is in a cold sweat. An imminent visit from a Government Inspector propels him into a frenzy. The hospital’s a health hazard, the school’s a war zone, the soldiers don’t have trousers and he never quite got around to building that church…!

A simple case of mistaken identity leads matters to spiral hysterically out of control in Gogol’s satirical masterpiece; a hilarious riot of corruption, lies and greed, as relevant today as when it was first performed in St. Petersburg in 1836.
